Welcome to Staffordshire Collaborative Lawyers
Collaborative Law is a way of resolving disputes following family breakdown without the threat of Court proceedings and without adversarial lawyer involvement.
It is a new method of dispute resolution designed for former partners who are committed to resolving their issues without going to Court, people who want to make their own decisions as to the future of their family rather than be dictated to by a stranger and people who want to ensure that they continue to maintain a relationship for the benefit of their children, extended family and society as a whole, even if they are no longer partners.
Settlement is reached more quickly than through the traditional legal process and less costly in terms of both financial and emotional cost.
What's involved?
You and your spouse/partner each take independent legal advice. You each provide full details of any relevant information. A series of face to face meetings take place with you, your spouse/partner and both lawyers to try and reach the best solution for the whole family. Unlike family mediation, both lawyers take part in all meetings to provide advice and support using their experience, knowledge and skills to promote the best possible outcome for the whole family.
Any issues can be discussed, including children and financial matters.
A new service ...
Collaborative Law is a new service, now being introduced in England and Wales following its launch and development in the United States and Canada. The largest regional group is in London, and was officially launched in November 2006. The movement is spreading to other parts of the country and is already available, and working, within Staffordshire.
